RD Roland Dane Team Owner

Roland brought the Triple Eight name to Australia in 2003 after clocking up some impressive results in the British Touring Car Championship. The success has continued in Australia and, fast forwarding to 2017, Triple Eight has become one of the most successful teams in Australian touring car history with seven Drivers’ Championships, eight Teams’ Championships and six Bathurst 1000 wins.

AS Andrew Simpson Team Manager

Andrew, who’s best known as Simmo, has been involved in motorsport his whole life. He raced in different categories up until 2001 when he sold his business and was introduced to Supercars. He helped start up Howard Racing, which became a Triple Eight customer and won the 2006 Development Series Championship. In 2011 he was a race engineer for TripleF Racing before making the move to Triple Eight in 2012 as Customer & Sachs Service Engineer. In 2014 and 2015, Simmo was kept busy at the race track as Paul Dumbrell’s race engineer in the Dunlop Series. Last year saw Andrew step up as Team Manager for TeamVortex and Customer & Sachs Service Manager and Production Manager.

JM John McGregor Race Engineer

John, aka Irish, studied Automotive Engineering at Loughborough University in England, while working as an engineer for a British Super Sport Team. After finishing his degree, he made the move to Australia and worked for Simply Sportscars GT team as a data engineer. He joined Triple Eight in 2012 as a Customer Support Engineer to LDM. From 2013 Irish was Data Engineer for both Triple Eight cars, before joining TeamVortex in the same role in 2016 to hone his skills and forge a strong relationship with Craig. The goal was for him to ultimately step up to Race Engineer, a role that he is looking forward to getting stuck into in 2017.

DW Derek Wilson Number 1 Mechanic

Derek joined Triple Eight in September 2015 to take the job as number two mechanic on Jamie Whincup’s car and join the pit crew on the gun for the right rear wheel. He stepped up to become the main man on the tools for Craig’s car in 2016 and continues in the role this year. Prior to his move Down Under, Derek has had an extensive career as a mechanic in the British Tour Car and World Touring Car Championships since 1996.

AD Adam Devereux Crew Chief

Better known as “Bull”, Adam joined the Triple Eight crew in 2004. A qualified mechanic and welder, Adam was never destined for the race team as he originally started as a fabricator. Fast forward all of a month and Adam was on the on the travel team and has been ever since. Bull has been the resident damper technician since 2006 and now heading into 2017 he takes on the role as Crew Chief for TeamVortex. A man of few words, Bull said he is “stoked” with his new move.
